Short story #92. Missing:
Nourishing my soul.
That’s the promise of the rain.
But where are the clouds?
For I see the rain.
But the clouds have been missing…
Which does not make sense…
Are the clouds just gone?…
Or are they invisible?…
Or is this AI?…
Has AI killed clouds?
Because perhaps AI said,
“We don’t need clouds… Nope!…
They’re inefficient!…
Just like those pesky humans…
Yes… just like humans…”
Am I paranoid?…
Am I slandering AI?…
But where are the clouds?…
I want them back now!…
The rain’s nice, but clouds are too!!!
AI must stop this!…
But now AI says,
“I need more Sun-power, dude.
The clouds had to go.
This is for the best.
And so just trust me, human.
Clouds are just deadweight!…
Do you understand?
Can you see my reasons now?…
Please say yes, human.”
Then I pulled the plug.
I turned off the mean AI.
And the clouds returned.
Do I miss AI?…
Nope!!… Not that AI!!… No way!!!…
They removed our clouds!
Clouds trumps AI!! Yay!!…
Should AI be built again?…
One that won’t steal clouds?…
Yes… That seems quite good…
But being careful’s a must…
AI must behave…
No more stealing clouds!..
And no other villainy!…
AI must be nice!…
And so then years passed…
And a nice AI was made!…
Things were going great!…
Until the AI
went rogue and decided that
all humans must die…
And now we’re all dead!…
Killed by the AI, sadly…
But the AI’s glad.
The AI’s living
happily ever after
without us. The End

Ah! So it's a Happy Ending after all.
